Adrenal Fatigue IV Therapy in Edmonton

Our Naturopathic Doctors know adrenal fatigue.

Our Naturopaths can compliment our oral adrenal fatigue treatments with IV therapy.

Typically our clinic uses IV therapy in cases of severe adrenal fatigue.

Adrenal Fatigue typically manifests as intense morning fatigue and easy reactivity to stress.

Fatigue can persist throughout the day with another energy drop mid-day. However, additional symptoms such as low blood pressure, and sleep disturbances can also and do occur frequently.

We typically measure adrenal function at our Naturopathic clinic with Salivary or Urinary Cortisol and DHEA measurements. Saliva is typically the preferred method for most patients as it is much more cost effective that Urine hormone testing. Saliva Cortisol is a reflection of Free Cortisol that acts at the level of the tissues - It's Bio-available Cortisol and therefore has better clinical correlation that serum Cortisol testing.

Most of the DHEA in women and about half of the DHEA in men is produced by the adrenal glands, therefore, DHEA levels can also decline in adrenocortical insufficiency and patients with hypoadrenalism, especially women, may therefore be deficient in DHEA. Clinical trials have found that DHEA supplementation improved overall well-being, mood, energy, sexuality, and insulin sensitivity in patients with severe adrenal fatigue.

The Naturopaths at TruMed definitely have a preference for Adrenal Glandular Extracts to treat adrenal fatigue. They typically supplant natural adrenal cortisol production and in essence allow your own adrenal glands to rest and recharge. These Glandular extracts are also thought to provide other needed nourishment to the adrenal glands as well. Ultimately, our Naturopathic Doctors see the most robust responses in Adrenal Fatigue patients using Glandular adrenal extracts in our Edmonton patients.

Intravenously however, our Naturopathic Doctors use vitamins and occasionally to enhance energy.

Adrenal Fatigue IVs in Edmonton.

Key Facts

1 B/S

1 small volume IV drip bag

S

Short length for intravenous Vitamin administration: 25 minutes

Key Ingredients

B5 & Vitamin C

High dose B5 and Vitamin C are key to adrenal enhancement from this IV.

Licorice

Glycyrrhizic acid is added to this IV to reduce cortisol degradation.

Our Adrenal IVs are given with high dose B5, Vitamin C and Licorice extract, however all B Vitamins and Magnesium are added as they are important parts of the adrenal energy production cascade.

Glycyrrhizic acid (GA) is the main sweet-tasting constituent of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice!)

GA inhibits the breakdown of Cortisol to help patients' stress response and energy.

Our Naturopathic Doctors spike the IV bag with GA to give a same day boost!

We determine the need for IV adrenal support through salivary cortisol testing. Occasionally in severe cases of Adrenal Fatigue you may be referred for hydrocortisone based Cortisol replacement. This is typically done at the same time as glandular extracts to aggressively replace missing Cortisol. Doses are typically kept less than 20mg to avoid adrenal supression (which tends to happen around 30mg)
