Vitamin C in EdmontonFor Cancer, Vitamin C can often be co-administered with various chemotherapies. Vitamin C Therapy can often be administered after Hyperbaric treatment. Vitamin C has shown benefit in:
Vitamin C BasicsWe dose Vitamin C anywhere from 5 grams to 125 grams per treatment.
Doses for Cancer are typically from 50-125 grams of Vitamin C. Data exists that suggests the effect of Vitamin C Therapy is enhanced by the addition Hyperbaric Oxygen. |

Review PapersIn 2018, a review by Bazzan was published of all patients receiving Vitamin C for cancer for patients at a hospital over a 7-year period. 86 patients received doses of Vitamin C ranging from 50g to 150g. Of those, 32 patients received only Vitamin C as part of their cancer management. 54 patients received Vitamin C in conjunction with chemotherapy. Patients, overall, reported improvements in fatigue, pain, and mood with Vitamin C Therapy. The authors concluded that Vitamin C may be useful in symptom management and improving quality of life in cancer patients. The authors concluded Vitamin C Therapy was shown to be safe in nearly all patient populations, alone and in combination with chemotherapies (Nauman 2018). Dosing & SafetyVitamin C has been administered in doses as high as 200g without adverse consequences.
Biochemistry
Vitamin C levels achievable in-office are cytotoxic to select cancer cell lines but not to normal cells by a mechanism involving formation of hydrogen peroxide. Whereas normal cells have more catalase enzyme that metabolizes (dismutates) hydrogen peroxide. Vitamin C may also deregulates cellular calcium homeostasis, thereby promoting cell death. High levels of ascorbate result in lower expression of HIF (helps tumor cells shift from aerobic to anaerobic metabolism) which decreases tumor growth. |

Hyperbaric Oxygen
Whereas high dose strategies (over 25 grams Vitamin C) paired with 1.3 to 1.5 ATA Hyperbaric protocols. Our Edmonton office has Hyperbaric chambers capable of 1.5 to 3.0 ATA Hyperbaric pressures. |

Vitamin C and InfectionsWe use low dose Vitamin C treatment primarily for acute infections like colds and flus. Our Naturopaths use moderate dose Vitamin C with chronic infections such as Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV). Results on 178 patients from the Riordan Clinic treated with Vitamin C (7.5 g to 50 g infusions) showed a reduction in EBV antibody levels over time. This is consistent with observations that Vitamin C can hinder viral infection and replication.
Low Dose vs HighThe Vitamin C treatments are in two major categories:
The high dose oxidative formulas that have a prolonged oxidative effect in the body likely begin at 20-25 grams and above. How many treatments do I need?
It depends on what you are using Vitamin C for. For skin health, we usually give Vitamin C with Glutathione 1-2x weekly for 4-12 weeks, usually using 5-10 grams of Vitamin C. What are all the things Vitamin C can be used for?
Most commonly we use Vitamin C therapy for: Immunity, Skin Health, Infections.
Side-effects to High Dose Vitamin C?
Surprisingly, not really. We've administered Vitamin C in high doses for 14 years with almost no side effects. High Dose Vitamin C can be dehydrating, because it's a hypertonic, so we might need to pre-hydrate patients that might be at risk for dehydration. Our experience:At our Edmonton clinic, our Naturopaths commonly administer 50 - 75 gram treatments of Vitamin C. We frequently measure blood vitamin C with a glucometer to approximate 400mg/dL levels of Vitamin C (reflecting in-vitro data from the Riordan clinic) or approximately 1.5g/kg. For chronic infections such as EBV and HHV-6 our Naturopaths often use doses of 15-30 grams but we are open to using higher doses up to 50 grams as per the Riordan EBV data. Overall, Vitamin C Therapy is an extremely safe treatment. Need Vitamin C?Get in touch

TruMed has mastered IV Therapy in Edmonton Intravenous nutrient therapy provides pharmacologic concentrations of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants by direct venous infusion. IV Therapy achieves plasma levels that are unattainable through oral intake, where absorption is typically limited by gastrointestinal transporters, first-pass metabolism, and tolerability. IV Therapy Mechanisms of Action:
No one has given more IVs than we have - over 15,000 IV treatments given since 2010 and counting. Come and get treatment from the most experienced IV therapy experts in Edmonton. NAD+ Injections and IV Therapy in Edmonton
NAD and NAD+ are used interchangeably. We offer subcutaneous NAD injections. Possible side effects of NAD injections include: nausea, rapid heart rate and lightheadedness.
NAD Injection Evidence from Clinical Studies:
Glutathione IV Therapy in Edmonton - Gluta DripsOur Naturopaths have been administering Glutathione IV Therapy at our Edmonton infusion clinic since 2010. Our Naturopaths have administered thousands of IV Glutathione treatments at our Edmonton infusion clinic. Glutathione drip administration time is short. Our Naturopaths give a Glutathione drip in less than 15 minutes. Glutathione injections or Gluta Drips can be added to many other IV Therapy treatments.
Glutathione Injections in Edmonton? - We got you covered!Infusion Clinic in Edmonton - Offering IV Vitamin C.IV Vitamin C is given with Zinc, Selenium, and Hydrochloric Acid for immunity whereas for cosmetics, Vitamin C is usually given with Glutathione. Vitamin C IV Therapy is usually given with supportive minerals and it's often used in Breast, Ovarian and Pancreatic Cancer with data for other cancers such as Kidney & Bladder Cancer. IV Vitamin C dosing at our infusion clinic varies widely, usually between 5 grams and 125 grams with doses based off of blood levels of Vitamin C after the infusion. For example, In 2018, Bazzan looked at 86 cancer patients received doses of Intravenous Vitamin C - 54 of which received IV Vitamin C infusions concurrently with chemotherapy and improvements were seen in fatigue, pain, and mood. This was similarly reported by Nauman who looked at 385 cancer patients in 23 trials using Vitamin C injections. They found IVC was safe in nearly all patient populations, alone and in combination with chemotherapies. Iron Infusions TruMed offers Edmonton iron infusions for rapid repletion of iron levels. Iron infusions ensure 100% absorption of iron for Rapid restoration of iron levels in our Edmonton patients. No referral is needed for iron IV therapy infusions at our office. Candidates for IV Iron at TruMed:
At our Edmonton clinic, iron infusions are prescribed following full case review and laboratory assessment by our Nurse Practitioner. Treatment is delivered in a monitored clinical environment, with dosing protocols aligned to current safety guidelines. IV Therapy: Vitamin CBackground: The amount of Vitamin C you can absorb orally is limited however intravenous administration of Vitamin C bypasses the digestive tract and can increase serum levels up 100-fold above what's achievable orally. High blood levels from Intravenous administration allow for a range of pharmacologic actions. At our Edmonton office our Naturopathic Doctors distinguish "low dose" and "high dose" IV Vitamin C. Low dose IV Vitamin C refers to up to 15grams (15000mg) whereas high dose IV Vitamin C is anywhere from about 20grams to 125grams (125 000mg). Pharmacologic actions of high dose Intravenous Vitamin C includes stimulate production of hydrogen peroxide production which is associated with cytotoxic antitumor and chemosensitization actions. At our Edmonton office, in conjunction with our Hyperbaric Chambers, strong synergy is expected between with Vitamin C IV Therapy. IV Vitamin C is a frequent recommendation from our Naturopaths for both acute and chronic infections in our Edmonton patients. Case 1: Male patient in mid-50s with follicular lymphoma since 2012 Initially patient did PolyMVA, and Low Dose Naltrexone (a metabolic approach to Cancer). Then Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Intravenous Vitamin C was done. There is a case report from 2005 showing another Lymphoma patient with remission from Vitamin C IV Therapy. Patient has done monthly IV Vitamin C Therapy (50grams) for over seven years (at time of writing) with TruMed since 2015 with yearly scans confirming control of the Lymphoma. In 2021 the patient added back Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy prior to his IV Therapy treatment. Summary: Through intravenous administration you can achieve dramatically higher blood levels of Vitamin C than oral supplementation and these levels have anti-infectious and and anti-cancer effects in some individuals For both infections and cancer, Vitamin C IV Therapy is often down twice weekly at the beginning before reduction to 1x weekly. Our Naturopathic Doctors are mindful of G6PD status and lowered kidney function but these are rarely issues in our experience with our Edmonton patients. Vitamin C IV Therapy is considered strongly synergistic with Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment. Despite the doses being aggressive, IV Therapy with High Dose Vitamin C is extremely well tolerated. |
