IV Therapy: Myers Cocktail

Background: In 1984 after receiving requests from former patients of the late Dr. John Myers, Dr. Alan Gaby MD formulated his own version of Myers' Cocktail - and subsequently gave about 15 000 of these IV Therapy treatments during his medical career.

The Myers is a remarkably simple IV Therapy treatment: B1, B3, B5, B6, B12, Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin C.

TruMed has its own formulation of the Myers with added Vitamin B2 as well as a different form and higher dose of B12 given as a concentrated IV drip.

Original indications for the Myers IV treatment included: asthma attacks, acute migraines, fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome), fibromyalgia, acute muscle spasm, upper respiratory tract infections, chronic sinusitis, and seasonal allergic rhinitis."

We've literally given thousands of Myers Cocktail IV Therapy treatments at our Edmonton office since 2011 with countless anecdotes of benefit.

Case 1: Female in her 50s with fatigue.

History: Patient originally visited our clinic in 2016 with suspicions of potential Thyroid issues causing fatigue.

An in-depth hormonal work up suggested possible benefit from bio-identical hormones - however, referral for DHEA, Thyroid and glandular adrenal supports were not effective

Treatment: Interestingly, B12 as an intramuscular shot initially was not effective. However, subsequent Myers Cocktail IV Therapy produced a profound improvement in energy.

This mirrors the observations of Gaby: "In my experience, intravenous administration of a combination of magnesium, calcium, B vitamins, and vitamin C is effective for some patients with fatigue in whom other treatments (including intramuscular vitamin B12) have failed."

Summary: The Myers is a simple and straight forward Vitamin IV Therapy treatment with a wide range of indications beyond those originally found by Gaby.

Our Naturopaths have thousands of administrations of experience with this IV treatment in both IV drip and IV push format.

Most commonly the Myers is used for fatigue and is a first line treatment our Naturopaths consider especially after standard investigations such as hormonal deficiencies have been ruled out.

Our Naturopaths usually suggest administering the Myers 1x weekly as a short IV drip for 4 weeks before  spacing out treatments to 1x every 4-6 weeks.

Myers IV treatments usually take about 15-20 minutes to administer and aside from vein discomfort, it's typically an extremely well tolerated IV Therapy treatment.

Fatigue

When your energy has disappeared and coffee has officially stopped doing its job, it may be time to look beyond caffeine. For patients seeking IV Therapy in Edmonton, a Myers Cocktail can provide a combination of IV vitamins and nutrients designed to support energy, hydration and overall nutritional status. At our Edmonton naturopathic clinic, vitamin drips can be customized according to the individual's needs, with ingredients selected based on factors such as diet, symptoms, lifestyle and nutritional status. Vitamin IVs and vitamin injections can also be considered when appropriate, making IV Therapy a flexible option for people dealing with persistent fatigue.

Women’s Health

Women can have changing nutritional demands throughout the menstrual cycle, during pregnancy planning, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause. A Myers Cocktail can be a useful component of IV Therapy in Edmonton for women looking for targeted nutritional support through vitamin cocktails, IV vitamins and other nutrients. Vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium and other nutrients commonly used in vitamin drips have important roles in energy metabolism, nervous-system function and normal physiological processes. A naturopath in Edmonton can help determine whether a vitamin IV, vitamin injections or another nutritional strategy makes sense for Women's Health based on the individual's circumstances.

Hormones

Hormones do not operate in a vacuum, so neither should a wellness program built around them. At an Edmonton naturopathic clinic, IV Therapy and Myers Cocktail vitamin drips can complement a broader hormone-health  program that may include hormone testing, thyroid assessment, nutrition and medically appropriate HRT or TRT. A vitamin cocktail is not a hormone treatment, but IV vitamins can provide nutritional support while the underlying hormonal issues are being investigated and addressed. Vitamin IVs and vitamin injections may also be used as part of an individualized nutritional program.

Digestive Concerns

Your digestive system has a surprisingly large influence on how you feel—and when digestion is unhappy, getting enough nutrients can sometimes become more challenging. For patients with digestive concerns, IV Therapy in Edmonton can provide vitamin cocktails and IV vitamins without relying entirely on gastrointestinal absorption. A Myers Cocktail may contain nutrients such as magnesium and B vitamins, while vitamin injections offer another route for selected nutrients. An Edmonton naturopath can help determine whether a vitamin drip makes sense alongside dietary changes, digestive testing and other appropriate strategies.

Weight Loss

There is no magical “melt-the-fat” vitamin drip—and if there were, gyms would probably be much quieter. For patients pursuing weight management, IV Therapy in Edmonton can provide supportive IV vitamins and vitamin cocktails while the real work of nutrition, exercise and metabolic optimization is addressed. A Myers Cocktail is not a weight-loss treatment, but correcting nutritional inadequacies and supporting hydration may be useful for some individuals. A naturopath in Edmonton can also assess whether thyroid function, hormones, nutrient status, sleep or other factors may be making weight management more difficult.

Thyroid

Thyroid function can influence energy, metabolism, mood, temperature regulation and many other aspects of health. At our Edmonton naturopathic clinic, Myers Cocktail IV Therapy can provide nutritional support alongside appropriate thyroid testing, treatment and metabolic assessment. IV vitamins may include nutrients involved in normal energy metabolism and nervous-system function, while vitamin injections can provide another method of supplementation when appropriate. A vitamin drip does not replace thyroid medication when medication is required, but it can be incorporated into a broader naturopathic approach to nutritional and metabolic health.

Skin

Your skin tends to keep the receipts: stress, poor sleep, sun exposure, aging and nutritional deficiencies can all show up eventually. Vitamin IVs and Myers Cocktail IV Therapy in Edmonton can provide nutritional and antioxidant support as part of a comprehensive skin-health program. Vitamins such as vitamin C are involved in collagen formation and antioxidant defense, while other nutrients commonly included in vitamin cocktails support normal cellular function. An Edmonton naturopath can help determine whether IV vitamins, vitamin injections, nutritional changes or other therapies are appropriate for your particular skin-health goals.

Mood

Mood is influenced by far more than one neurotransmitter. Sleep, hormones, thyroid function, nutrition, stress and metabolic health can all play a role. For patients exploring mood and wellness support, IV Therapy in Edmonton can incorporate Myers Cocktail vitamin drips and IV vitamins into a broader naturopathic strategy. B vitamins and magnesium, for example, participate in numerous biochemical reactions involving the nervous system and energy metabolism. Vitamin injections and vitamin IVs should be viewed as supportive nutritional therapies rather than replacements for appropriate treatment of depression, anxiety or other mental-health conditions.

Autoimmune Conditions

Autoimmune conditions are complicated, and there is no single vitamin cocktail capable of magically switching the immune system off—which is probably fortunate, because the immune system does have a few important jobs. For patients with autoimmune conditions, an Edmonton naturopath may consider Myers Cocktail IV Therapy as supportive nutritional care alongside appropriate medical treatment and lifestyle strategies. IV vitamins can provide nutrients involved in normal immune and cellular function, while vitamin drips may be individualized according to nutritional needs and clinical circumstances. Vitamin IVs are supportive therapy, not a cure for autoimmune disease, and should complement—not replace—appropriate disease management.

Fertility

Preparing for conception involves much more than checking a single hormone level. For patients pursuing fertility support, IV Therapy in Edmonton can incorporate Myers Cocktail vitamin cocktails, IV vitamins and other nutritional therapies as part of a comprehensive preconception strategy. Nutrients such as vitamin C, B vitamins and magnesium play important roles in normal cellular function, energy metabolism and overall nutritional health. A naturopath in Edmonton can help assess diet, nutrient status, hormones and lifestyle factors while determining whether vitamin drips or vitamin injections have a useful role.

Brain Injury & Concussion

The brain is one of the body's most metabolically demanding organs, and recovery from concussion or brain injury can be frustratingly slow. IV Therapy in Edmonton can incorporate Myers Cocktail vitamin drips and IV vitamins as supportive nutritional therapy within a broader brain-injury recovery program. Nutrients involved in energy metabolism, antioxidant defense and nervous-system function may be incorporated depending on the individual's needs. An Edmonton naturopath may also consider nutritional optimization alongside rehabilitation, sleep, exercise, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and other appropriate approaches. Vitamin injections can provide another route for selected nutrients.

Cancer Support

Naturopathic Cancer support requires careful coordination, particularly when patients are receiving chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy or other active cancer treatments. For selected patients, Myers Cocktail IV Therapy in Edmonton can provide supportive hydration and nutritional supplementation alongside conventional cancer care. Vitamin cocktails and IV vitamins should be individualized rather than automatically administered as a one-size-fits-all protocol. An Edmonton naturopath working with a patient undergoing cancer treatment should consider the patient's diagnosis, medications, laboratory findings and oncology plan before recommending vitamin drips, vitamin IVs or vitamin injections.

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis involves complex interactions between the nervous system, immune system, metabolism and long-term neurological health. For people with MS, Myers Cocktail IV Therapy in Edmonton can be considered as supportive nutritional care alongside conventional MS treatment, rehabilitation and lifestyle optimization. Vitamin IVs may provide nutrients involved in normal energy metabolism and neurological function, while vitamin injections can offer an alternative route for selected nutrients. An Edmonton naturopath should approach IV vitamins as adjunctive support rather than suggesting that a vitamin cocktail can cure MS or replace disease-modifying treatment.

Pediatrics

Children have different nutritional requirements and dosing considerations from adults, so pediatric IV Therapy deserves a more cautious approach. When vitamin IVs, vitamin injections or a Myers Cocktail are being considered for a child, an Edmonton naturopath should first establish a clear clinical rationale and use age-appropriate protocols. IV vitamins are not simply adult vitamin drips served in a smaller glass. Depending on the situation, nutritional assessment, oral supplementation or other approaches may be more appropriate. When IV Therapy is used in pediatrics, the goal should be targeted nutritional support with careful attention to safety.

Long COVID

Long COVID can leave people dealing with fatigue, brain fog, exercise intolerance, sleep disruption and a frustrating lack of straightforward answers. For patients exploring supportive care for Long COVID, IV Therapy in Edmonton can incorporate Myers Cocktail vitamin drips and IV vitamins into an individualized recovery program. Vitamin cocktails may provide hydration and nutritional support while other contributors to persistent symptoms are investigated. An Edmonton naturopath may combine vitamin IVs with nutritional assessment, sleep optimization, rehabilitation and other appropriate strategies. Vitamin injections can also be considered for selected nutrients, but IV Therapy should be viewed as supportive care rather than a proven cure for Long COVID.

Myers Cocktail & Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Myers Cocktail IV Therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy work through very different mechanisms, which is exactly what makes the combination interesting. In Edmonton, vitamin drips and hyperbaric oxygen therapy can sometimes be incorporated into broader recovery and wellness programs, with each therapy serving a different purpose. IV vitamins deliver nutrients directly into the bloodstream, while hyperbaric oxygen therapy increases environmental pressure and oxygen availability. An Edmonton naturopath can help determine whether combining a vitamin IV with HBOT makes sense based on the patient's goals, medical history and overall treatment plan.

Myers Cocktail & TRT

Hormone optimization and nutritional optimization are separate pieces of the longevity puzzle, but they can sometimes fit into the same overall program. At an Edmonton naturopathic clinic, Myers Cocktail IV Therapy can complement a medically supervised TRT program by providing nutritional support while testosterone therapy addresses clinically significant testosterone deficiency when appropriate. Vitamin IVs and vitamin injections do not replace testosterone, and a Myers Cocktail should not be marketed as a testosterone booster. Instead, IV vitamins can be incorporated alongside appropriate hormone testing, monitoring, nutrition, exercise and other strategies aimed at improving overall health and healthy aging

IV Drips and Vitamin Cocktails

We offer Edmonton Vitamin IV Therapy at our Infusion Clinic.

Our office offers numerous versions of IV Vitamin Cocktails, IV Drips and Vitamin IV Therapy treatments.

Dr. Muradov has administered thousands of IV Drip treatments since 2010 at our Infusion Clinic.

Most commonly Dr Muradov uses IV Drips with Vitamins as a primary treatment for boosting energy - these are also referred to as IV Vitamin Cocktails or IV Vitamin Drips - a Vitadrip technically.

Our IV Drip has a concentrated blend of B Vitamins and Magnesium.

We have administered thousands of IV Vitamin Drips at our Edmonton Infusion Clinic.

Since 2016, the Naturopaths at TruMed developed a "jacked up"  IV Drip Vitamin Cocktail with stronger doses than clasically available  for our Edmonton patients.

Although many patients feel better after their first Vitamin IV Therapy treatment, in some cases it takes 3-4 IV Drip treatments for the effects to fully manifest.

Therefore, we frequently recommend a series of at least 3  treatments before re-evaluating the treatment plan.

It is common to follow a Vitamin IV Drip with an IV Drip of Glutathione.

The Vitamin Cocktail IV Drip can also be combined with NAD+ Injections for an even more profound effect on fatigue.

Our Naturopaths usually suggest an IV Vitamin Drip once weekly for 3-4 weeks to improve energy - the initial effect is usually within 24 hours and the first lasts 2-5 days on average.

The goal of a Vitamin Drip is to achieve high peak serum concentrations of nutrients.

A Vitamin Drip or IV Drip with Vitamins allows for rapid repletion of nutrients.
