IV Therapy FAQ How does IV therapy work?Our Naturopathic Doctors infuse substances directly into the blood stream. With IV therapy, we can bypass the digestive tract and provide clinically relevant doses. What does IV therapy cost?Unfortunately, IV therapy can be costly. You may be able to receive reimbursement through your benefits for IV therapy. Do I need a consultation before trying an IV?At TruMed you need a consultation prior to doing your first IV Therapy. Your initial IV consultation is complimentary. We will review your history, lab work, perform a physical exam and see what recommendations suit you best. Where is TruMed located? Is it near me?Our Clinic is in Central Edmonton just West of Kingsway Mall. We are in a strip mall, with parking in front. Does TruMed offer Mobile IVs?Unfortunately at this time TruMed does not do Mobile IV therapy for our Edmonton patients. We do sometimes do small privately booked Mobile IVs on a limited basis. How often does someone need IV Therapy?How often someone needs IV therapy depends on what's being treated. Most commonly, our Naturopaths administer one IV drip per week for 3-4 consecutive weeks. Maintenance infusions are usually every 4-6 weeks for many IV treatments. Occasionally more aggressive treatment protocols are used.
FAQ ContinuedI'm really bad with needles, what should I do?Come to your visit early, well hydrated, have a snack before hand and grab a heating pad to improve appearance of your veins. We can recline you as well to improve comfort. If I'm pregnant can I do IV therapy?Our office does offer a limited amount of infusions in pregnancy. Very commonly, we are administering fluids in pregnant patients. Our Naturopathic Doctors will determine if IV Therapy is right for you. How long do infusions take?Shorter IVs are usually over 20-40 minutes. Infusion times vary greatly depending what is being addressed. Have Questions?
